Literature Text

the summer came and past,
about a million times,
all we can say is boy, it went fast.

then before we know it,
there's snow on the ground,
and we look up,
it seems as if there's no sound.

now it rains,
practically everyday,
should we build an ark,
or just wait for a sun ray?

the final bell rings,
and all our peers,
rush out the door,
you can hear their cheers.

times that by sixty,
because we're ninety now,
sitting together,
taking our last bow.

wondering how,
did our lives pass us by,
it seems like just yesterday,
we were about to fly.

i can still remember,
the sound of that bell,
the feel of the rain,
the heavy snow, as well.

now all I can ask,
is if you remember how,
fast the summer went by,
back when we were ten?

i'll keep those memories of us,
long after we're gone,
i just wanted you to know,
i love you, and so long.
I think my writer's block is slowly being chipped away at.

I'm not really sure what this is about. In my head, it's an old woman talking about the memories she has with her husband, when they were both kids. In the end, they're in their nineties, and she's about to pass away, so she's saying her final goodbyes.

Feel free to interpret it as you like, as I said, that's just what I take it as.

It's something different than I usually write, and I enjoyed doing it, so I hope you like it! :D
